Stickpin is a relatively new band, formed from the bowels of deepest Hull, England, as a result of their disgust at 95.3% of the bands around them, and a desire to make their enemies feel inadequate.
Comprising Katherine Horrex, Alex Ruckledge, Tom Carr and Liam Plater, their influences include Kirsty MacColl, The Smiths, Patti Smith, The Velvet Underground and Nico, Nico by herself, The Pogues, The Cure, Bis, Echo and the Bunnymen, metrosexuality, Nirvana, the Pixies, The Breeders, early R.E.M., Pale Saints, B-52's, Meat Puppets, Neil Young, The Cranberries etc. etc.
Not that it matters, but they have received comments such as: 'the band that's gonna have Hull by the balls'- Jayney Wright- off the road. 'One's to watch for the future'- Nicky Stanilou- Thisisull.com and 'I can't stand seeing women in bands'- Mike Reynolds- Sandman Magazine.
