If you have any sort of land that can be used to produce food you have a responsibilty to do so. It's a fairly recent thing that landowners stopped using their land no matter how small to produce some type of food. You don't have to have a green thumb or even have a vegetable garden. You can plant perrinial fruit trees and shrubs. You can plant perrinial herbs and salad greens that require little of no maitinance except to go out and get the produce that you and your family can use or share with others.

I suggest you open up google or your search engine of choice and type in Permaculture, Edible Landscaping, or Forest Gardens and educate yourself about these things over the winter so you will be ready in the spring.  These are important baby steps we can take to slow and reverse global warming and create abundance for all and a world without hunger.

If you don't have a backyard.. there are many things you can plant on the window sill.....  like lettuce, tomatos, and various herbs :)
