Nancy Pelosi Vs. The Internet

I just saw this story on another blog. It says 'Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who would like very much to reimpose the old, so-called, "Fairness Doctrine" that once censored conservative opinion on television and radio broadcasting, is scheming to impose rules barring any member of Congress from posting opinions on any internet site without first obtaining prior approval from the Democratic leadership of Congress. No blogs, twitter, online forums — nothing.

And here i always thought that she was on the side of free speech.

Weird.

I don't think democrats (which includes me) or anyone else  who really cares about and understands the importance of free speech as the foundation of democracy is very happy with the democratic congress right now.  I'm really pissed about the wiretapping bill that passed today, although i knew that would happen.  I hear that the democratic congress' approval ratings are only a little higher than Bush's, which is not surprising.

This is not really my business, but i surmised from your blog that you, like me, believe the 1st amendment means free speech  for everyone, and are not bleeding for republicans or their minions on fixed noise.  If you are, then you are but i was just curious from the wording.  Just asking-in the spirit of free speech.
