So I am sure by now you have all seen the previews for "The
Strangers," the film staring Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler. The premise
of the movie is that a young couple is accosted and presumably killed
by three strangers who torture them for one night. Now this plot has
obviously been seen before. It is the classic horror movie story. But
where this goes above and beyond is when they call it "based on true
events." They basically state that the story is based on events that
happened to the Hoyt family after a friend's wedding in 2005.
Seeing this really spooked me out. So i went to investigate. It
turns out, after reading several blog rolls and watching an interview
with the director/writer, that this movie is based on the Manson
murders! i find this to be totally outrageous and feel like they should
not be allowed to say that the movie is based on real events just for
marketing reasons. What a hoax, but I guess it still looks scary!
