Has anyone else seen this incredibly intense and long Italian film?

If not, I recomend it. We started watching it in an intensive italian course over the summer last year, but we only managed to get through the first 3 or so hours. I couldn't rent it in my local video shop so I let it be, but a few days ago I saw it was on the sundance channel and luckily got to see the rest of the film! It really is one of the best film experiences I've ever sat through. Just think about it, a 6 hour epic of a film about people and their everyday lives. A thing like that could become incredibly mundane within a matter of minutes, but this film manages to hold your attention the entire way through. It really is incredible.
