You might know Cisco Adler as the longhaired party boy hanging on the arm of The O.C.'s Mischa Barton, but he'd rather be remembered as the guy who saved rock'n'roll.
As the frontman of Malibu's Whitestarr, Adler -- whose dad, Lou, produced and directed Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke -- teams up with Alex "Orbie" Orbison (son of crooner Roy Orbison) on drums, SoCal rockers Rainbow Jeremy on guitar and Damon Webb on bass, and dancer Tony Potato.
If you're hungry for some sex-driven rock'n'roll, Whitestarr promises to turn you on with its Luv Machine: an age-old combination of cowbell and screaming guitar. With Adler's scratchy vocals and some dark and deep bass lines, you'll be dancing on tables in no time. Just like their heroes, the Black Crowes and Rolling Stones, Whitestarr's tunes beg for loud, late-night swaying and singing along.
Six years ago, Adler put down some tunes on the four-track recorder in his Malibu living room, and then, backed by fellow Malibu rockers Backbone69, played the Roxy on Sunset Strip. Soon after, Backbone69 lost its lead singer in a car accident, so Adler and Backbone69 continued to play together, officially becoming Whitestarr. Since then, they've toured with Kid Rock, played Coachella, signed with indie label Contango, and watched Adler become a fixture on E! and Access Hollywood. |
